Bullmastiff Dog Breed - Origin and History

The origin and history of Bullmastiff show an excellent example of a breed of dog at the end of a line that can be easily located and understood. The history of the Bullmastiff breed originated in England and although the story is not as long and rich history of other races, is a descendant near one of the oldest breeds of dogs in England, the Mastiff . It is believed that the mastiff, a breed of dog descended from giant Alano and Hound, which was introduced in ancient Britain there are more than 2000 years.

The Bullmastiff, however, was not introduced until 1860 when the Mastiff was crossed with the Old English Bulldog. At that time, the Rangers needed a dog to help protect their property and cattle poachers hunting, especially deer hunting roots. The Mastiff was apparently too slow and cumbersome to work and the Bulldog was too weak to be effective. The solution is a mixture of about 60% to 40% mastiff bulldog, creating Havana.
